Shaffer like I say some words will meet you there you are or thanks for having me on and that's fun to have the 8th graders and mr. loving on the other line there to so families if you have Garden through 8th grade students we would love to try to find a seat for them there are still a few seats available so you can go to quickly to. Com check us out you could call us here I'm just just five miles south and if you wonder what their location looks like this is the the original Christ Community School campus that responsive education Solutions purchased so it's beautiful it's safe it's it's ready for extra kiddos we have about 250 students and we're looking to add about another 50 more so hopefully you have one of those great kiddos that we need and we love to talk with you so give us a call and we'll show you around we have some face-to-face tours coming up and some face-to-face Town Halls so things are moving right direction thank you Mr Press Nation on the screen here kind of a map where they're located if you're familiar with Mia's Table restaurant that's the kind of fine I used to know when my turn is so if you're just coming on the south Cedar Road just turn off Mia's table and it's just right around the corner so it has the same format that we use here at the school so it's a great way for students to learn the Approach at the high school so as soon as transition from Quest Collegiate Academy to ischool high it will be a very easy transition as we're very familiar with the processes and our students are high school students will be visiting Quest Academy that way our students their students will get to know our students so thank you so who are we as an open charger roll we basically take anyone who applies and can get here we do not provide transportation so basically we're kind of open unlike other schools that you that your Zone 2 your time zone to one school based on your address here you're not as long as you can bring your child to Park Campus you have the ability to apply for a campus I just wanted to show you some of the zip codes where the man 40 of our students are coming from this is not all of them these are just a top zip code and these are some of the top school districts where our kids are Zone 2 so we are going we haven't sent us all the way from Willows to Splendora we go all the way from Aldine Cline so we have a wide range of locations were students resume so we're open Charter so your address is not dictate which school you go to our mission statement is I so high will provide Hope by challenging each student with an early college Freebase Blended learning curriculum while increasing the opportunities to earn college credit option Associates of Arts degree so our plan is as soon as you're Road the school we are going to get you ready for your college classes starting your second semester you'll be enrolled in college classes because our goal is to get you an associate's degree and that is free of charge will what's your role as ischool high students are enrolled in Lone Star your tuition is covered that also includes your textbooks the who's who I didn't know this myself message Life on Top we have is a to Milad we have Miss Hopson we have Miss Bustos the two people that we need to really look at is miss angster and miss Andrew those are the two people that will be helping you navigate the application system so anytime you have a question you may go to miss Sangster or to miss and Grill call them and they'll be glad had to provide assistance so what is ischool high and what's our mission so our mission is to be able to take highly motivated highly motivated chemically driven mature students who desire to be challenged by rigorous coursework and capable of earning a high school diploma and associate's degree so we will help you so if you are a motivated and academically student the school could be the school for you because we're going to help you make sure that you hot graduate from high school and earn your Social Security so our system learning is called mastery-based Learning System we have our academics online so we're using computers everyday and basically would have taken a Facebook for example the Biology book and with broken it down into units to instead of the Biology book being broken down into chapters we have units so we expect our students to complete units one through five first semester that will gain you will have credit and unit 6 through 10 the spring semester and that will gain you another half credit for a full credit completion for that course says misread work and orally Defender units the basically as you're doing your coursework their activities in your units the teachers are there to assist you with the learning lower the student is taking ownership of the money so students will need to make a 90 on their test before they can move forward the basic aware that means as you're doing all your work you need to sure that you're taking knows that you're using your technology to assist you and learning the material if you have trouble then you meet with your teacher and they will assist you with the Nae that you have sometimes I'll be providing tutoring 101 sometimes they'll be group so it all depends what assistance you need we will be providing it to you so I want to see makes a 90 on the unit test then they'll be able to go ahead and move forward to the next unit on our unit sweep usually work every 3 weeks so every 3 weeks are expectacion is that a student completes the course work within that unit including testing and making a 90 so that is why we're really tired students that you should focus on completing the actual work in 2 weeks that way the last week of that unit go ahead and focus on defending studying and taking the test so you can pass it with a 90% so the students are going to be taking more ownership of their learning since we need to make decisions on how they want to proceed with their learning there's no specific time. That we're requiring students to spend time on their work some soon will work much faster than others but you do have to keep up with that specific pays that every 3 units you're completing a unit we have students I will complete 3 units and I'm 6 weeks. so it all depends on how fast you want to go and how diligent you want to be with your learning so students are Marching their own learning you're being independent responsible you have time management set your goals and you have to be organized so if you're not organized doesn't mean that you will not do good here that means that we will need to sit down with you and help you with that process of your organizational skills so you can make sure that you're completing these units in a three-week Time then we go on the teacher outcomes and we're looking at the t-shirt is not a Stand and Deliver type of method that we use teachers are there on the sidelines to provide guidance to provide Clarity and to provide directions to the students as their tackling their unit books so the teachers are there assist but they're not they're teaching every single topic we're in your Traditional High School you have the entire class on the same page at the same paragraph everybody doing the same thing at the same I'm here are students are diverse students might be ending of unit students might be in the middle of the unit but we are all assisting those students to complete unit by the deadline of every 3 weeks I do provide great environment that reflects the Lonestar so when they go to Lonestar classes they should be already accustomed of the expectations of colleges have or Learners worth edible peas by asking higher level questions so they're basically getting assistance being able to answer the questions that teachers are asking during the defense time next so what does my schedule look like so here we have a sample schedule for all four years of an early college high school student so as you can see 9th grade you have some blue blocks those are the number of credits that you'll be receiving from the college so you see that in the 9th grade you have two columns you have your spa you have that your spring semester go on the column of the Fall you do not have any blue boxes that means that all your classes will be at the high school once you jump over to the fall semester you will see your blue boxes that means that those are College. Can I Do classes so as you look through Brave 10 11 and 12 you'll see all those blue boxes once we add all those blue back blue boxes up those will get you I was just agree to the art curriculum is Pretty Tough so you really need to be on top of things on this slide we have the degree plan for Lone Star I had Lone Star by the end of the year song what year you'll be determining if you want to get an associates of science or associate of Arts so you don't have to come up with that decision and will help you and our academic counselor will be providing guidance for you to make a wise decision at the time we're not doing anything concrete because we know that you still up I don't even know what you want to study but we want to provide a good foundation of your classes next we have a test that you have to take and we will now have MS Hopsin come on to talk about our Texas success initiative assessment good afternoon families I just want to talk to you a little bit about a test that is extremely important so Lonestar is in your 4K spring semester but in order to get you ready to take college courses you've got to prove that you can do it so the way we do that is we have to test we have a math test and we have English test you will I have to take the math test until you complete algebra to go ahead and put that one on the back burner but the first test that you will take the first couple of weeks of school will be an English language start Readiness test you're going to have English comprehend reading comprehension going to have a written component to it passing score is a 9:45 or higher and then your essay has to be at least a 5 or higher we're going to give you some preparation materials sometime right before school starts so that you can start looking at that if you are very eager you can go to the accuplacer website will put that in the chat and they do have a study that you can look at to begin preparing you for that test so know that that will be happening the first couple of weeks of school and we'll get you ready to start on Star classes thank you Miss Hopsin Hopsin very well because as gr trying to get ready for the TSI She Will Be Your Leader she will be your guidance and making sure that you have all the tools you need in order for you to pass that test so you can get take your college classes next we have are just some achievements that we've done on start testing we have about 99% a passing rate last year senior class at 24th student that get their high school diploma and received their associate's degree and we have a list of the different colleges where our students have been accepted to so so if your college is not there that does not mean that you cannot make it there we also have different Partnerships that we have starting with Lone Star who's our partner we also have the woodlands Chamber of Commerce and is he can see the list goes on and on a different organizations that our students are involved in and they looks great information for your resume so as you're trying to get into colleges we ask you to park fading the different organizations that way you can get some leadership and community service involvement we have a lot of clubs here not just because we're small does not mean that we do not have play we have seen Council National Honor Society that cat yearbook we do have homecoming dance we have our prom so we have different activities that are found in large High School as well so we have a lot of fun lot of spirit weeks where we get to have some fun do you know the biggest question we asked where are we located once again we are at University Center building inside the Lonestar campus on 242 while we're on the second floor of the building so what are our hours are hours are 7:50 in the morning and we leave at 3 in the afternoon would you have tutoring from 3 to 3:30 so if you need additional work you can go ahead and stay to get additional support from your teachers transportation's and food service we do not have that so Transportation would be dependent on the parent to provide that transportation to and from school also for the lunches would you have microwaves percent to heat up food but you will need to bring your lunch everyday we do have extracurricular activities we have several clubs what we don't have our Sports we do not offer Sports I know that lava students that continue their sporting they do it through different organizations outside of school they participate in the different leagues so if you're into sports you can still continue to chest pain in those activities so there's some pictures of independent time where students are just dedicated to the units we also have some other a picture just to kind of let you see what our students actually doing we have group time that's a specific time where you can make with your friends and work together and kind of prepare for Sam Jackson quiz each other but most of the time you are focusing on your academics and it's kind of hard to do a lot of group time unless all those students are at the same place at the same time cuz remember that we are everybody could get a different place with the whole class is not at the same place at the same time testing room once we go back to em person we have a testing we're all students will come take your test I'll test our line we have a testing coordinator that supervises all the tests that we have and lunch lunch is on the first floor once go back to normal conditions from covid-19 we have or defenses that is worth students are meeting with a teacher to make sure that the students can answer those higher-level questions from the team ensure that they'll be able to make a 90 on the test next steps is to apply I have the link here where you can apply for our camp once you submitted your name the first thing that will happen is that you'll get a receipt offer and what that basically means is that you have a place on hold with your name on it submit all your paperwork you submit all your grades and everything is good then you'll be enrolled in our school so a seat offer and acceptance is two different things so the sea. we're holding a place where you so we really encourage you if you already have been offered a seat for you to go ahead and submit your paperwork with application so that way start processing your application okay and again our phone number was at the very bottom of the screen so please call us if you get stuck during that pay process delays upfront will be more than glad to assist you to make sure that you get your seat offer at this time we're going to go ahead and pass it on to mr. tomorrow. He will go over any questions that were submitted do the chat at this time if you guys have any questions put them in the chat and we will be happy to answer them or feel free to unmute and ask MR2 is mr. Shaffer from Quest Collegiate High hey so while people are thinking of those great questions I just wanted to give my two cents worth because my son just graduated from high school last may you graduate with 50 five college credit so just five short of his associate's degree and it was pretty neat because when he enrolled in those extra courses and asked me to pay the bill I mean so it is like almost $600 and I choke to give you the next morning and I realized pay $600 to buy the rest of his associate's degree that's an amazing half bachelor's right there so we're super excited and now our daughter is a 10th grader they're tough quarter challenge her to stay play six hundred bucks and finish the associate and I'm sure she will but we have a great connection and you know some of your staff have their children in my school and vice-versa and we just we really Joy the partnership so I just put a plug in for everybody that I've met there and I school is there for the right reasons to help students Excel and and succeed so thank you for the great work you guys do mr. Shaffer arrived so we do not have any further questions
